Zimrie's almost 2!!

Well, it's been almost two years since "sweet little Zimrie" was born. :) Even before he was born I've called him that, and he sure does live up to that name (except maybe the "little" part). His birthday is coming up, and he is growing so quickly--this post is completely dedicated to him!

Zimrie, with his big blue eyes and "brooms for eyelashes" as my friend says. His funny laugh and crazy hair and friendly personality. He's a fun kid to parent. He's easy! Self-entertains, loves to cuddle, is so brave, and likes everyone he meets!

Here's some fun things Zimrie is doing these days:

Every meal, he makes a pile on his tray called his "Nope Pile." He puts half--or all--of his food in the little depressed cup holder on his tray. Says, "nope" with each piece he puts there and refuses to eat it. This goes with stuff he doesn't like--say, broccoli--and also everything else. Pizza? Eat a bite, put a bite in the Nope Pile. Ask for more pizza. Donuts? Eat two-thirds, put the rest in the Nope Pile. Ask for a second donut. Once it's there, it doesn't come out. Take one bite of a veggie straw, second bite--Nope.

He talks A LOT. He's about as clear as Asher is in his pronunciation, though Asher knows more words. But Zimrie is saying the funniest things. He tells me to be careful all the time (he hears that a lot.) "Zim, I'm going to go make you a sandwich." He runs into the kitchen and looks very serious, "Be careful, Mama."

More than that, though, I hear, "I'm hunny, Mama!" He's hungry ALL the time. All. The. Time.

He'll say, "Can't do it, Mama!" or "Help me!" And that doesn't sound funny, but for some reason it is when you hear him say it.

He likes to have blinking contests. Seth or I will blink at him and he will blink his eyes with a lot of force, hard blinks that get longer. :)

He has crazy, nutso hair that grows unbelievably fast. I have no idea what to do with it. It looks hilarious, I know. I just don't want to pay $20 to take him to get it cut and fight with him the whole time and then have it growing like a weed and needing another cut the next month. I want it to stay long because I love it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

When Zim and Ash picked out their pumpkins last week, Zimrie cradled his all afternoon and growled at it, "Das it, Bebe!" (That's it, Baby!) ......?

Zimrie is a wonderful brother. He misses Asher while he's at preschool and begs to stay with him everyday. He will have to wait two more years before it's his turn. He'll be one of the oldest in the class when he goes. Ash is quick to remind him that he has to be three before he can go to preschool. :)

I also think that Zimrie would make a great big brother. He loves his cousins and is very sweet with them, and loves to take care of babies.

He really has no fear. Standing up on the coffee table and jumping onto the beanbag? Why not? He loves all the rides at SDC, loves to be upside down, and to spin.

He and Ash can share some clothes now. Where Ash is taller, Zim is chubbier. :)

He loves Winnie the Pooh, Thomas the Train, Elmo, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Curious George. (We DO do other things besides watch cartoons! I promise!)

He loves playing with his trains, sorting his blocks into colors, playing outside, pretending to be a pirate, and wrestling with Asher.

I'm excited for Zim to turn 2! We're going to have a simple dinner with family and then take him to the zoo. But October is pretty much bursting at the seams with fun activities: fall festivals, Community Camp, and time with friends. So it will probably feel like we are celebrating all month!
